Operation La Paz – Clean Water Program Update

September 2025

Organized by: Wanda Hoover
Supported by: Donations from members of Faith Viera Lutheran Church

Delivering Clean Water Filters to La Paz Communities

From September 16–19, Wanda Hoover and a small team traveled to La Paz, Honduras to deliver and assemble water filters for local schools, churches, and families in need. Through donations from members of Faith Viera Lutheran Church, Operation La Paz was able to bring over 100 water filters to the region—providing clean, safe drinking water to an estimated 500 people.

September 16 — Rosita’s School in Barahona

The first delivery took place at Rosita’s school in Barahona. With help from the team (Linda and Woody McDaniel, David Cook, Tom Fenstermacher, Cara Winslow, Mike P., Mike B., Bonnie, and Wanda), 17 filters were assembled and delivered.
Three additional filters were left for families who were unable to attend.
Rosita and Rafa assisted with translation and instructions to ensure the filters can be used effectively for years to come.

These filters will provide clean water for up to 96 people for approximately three to five years.

September 17 — La Granja Community

The following day, community member Maria invited the team to use the Catholic House of Mary Queen of Peace in La Granja as a distribution point.
With the team’s help:

  • 20 filters were assembled and delivered

  • Translations were provided by Maria, Rafa, and Rosita

  • Approximately 100 people will benefit from this distribution

September 19 — Second Visit to La Granja

The team returned to the Catholic House of Mary Queen of Peace to distribute additional filters.
On this visit:

  • 40 more filters were delivered

  • More than 200 people will benefit from this round

  • Remaining filters were left with Rafa and Rosita for distribution after the team returned to the U.S.

Total Impact

By the end of the trip:

  • 103 filters were assembled and delivered

  • These filters will provide clean drinking water to approximately 500 people across multiple communities

This clean water initiative is expected to continue in future years as long as funds remain available.

Ongoing Support

Operation La Paz remains deeply grateful for the generosity of donors who made this project possible.
Special thanks to:

  • Wanda Hoover, for organizing, coordinating, and participating in the trip

  • Members of Faith Viera Lutheran Church, whose contributions funded the water filters

  • Community partners in La Paz who helped translate, assemble, and distribute filters

More updates will be shared as the clean water program continues to grow.
